One of the distinguishing features of air transport as part of the global supply chain is its fitness for intercontinental transportation, alongside sea transport. Air freight is characterized by high tariffs and, as a consequence, by high value of transported goods. While in physical terms air freight accounts for less than 1% of global freight turnover, in value terms its share exceeds 35%.
