New China - Europe freight route

Containers now move by rail from Wuhan, China, to Hamburg, Germany, for onward maritime transhipment to Gothenburg, Sweden.

THE China-Europe Express, which ships containers by rail between China and mainland Europe, launched a new route on September 18. It runs between Wuhan, China, and Hamburg, Germany, with onward maritime transhipment to Gothenburg, Sweden.

The first train departed from Wuhan carrying electric vehicles and automotive components, which are expected to the primary goods carried on this route. Major manufacturers, including Donfeng Motor, are supporting the new venture. The total transit time is around 23 days, half the time taken by sea.

The China-Europe Express currently operates via 55 cross-border routes to reach 117 cities in 40 countries, including the previously underserved Nordic region, including Finland, Norway and Sweden.
